WHY WE NEED CHILD SAFE TANKS?
Recent tragedies involving children and tanks have occured this year. As more rainwater tanks enter our suburban areas, parents and children need to be aware of the dangers that can be presented by 'un-safe' tanks.

WHAT MAKES ACTION TANKS ABOVE GROUND TANKS CHILD SAFE?
All above ground rainwater tanks supplied by Action Tank Industries are fitted with their patented 'CHILD SAFE INSERT'. This insert prevents children accessing the internal area or falling in the tank and can even hold the weight of an adult.

Action Tanks also have other elements that make their tanks "child safe":

  • Made from 100% Australian Polyethylene, the tanks have no sharp metal edges
  • No climbing points
  • Thicker wall at the bottom for added strength, even when empty
  • CHILD SAFE INSERT - restricts access to the internal area of the tank, even if strainer is left loose or off
  • Child Safe First Flush Diverter also restricts access to tank and can even hold the weight of an adult, preventing a fall into the tank
WHAT MAKES ACTION TANKS UNDERGROUND TANKS CHILD SAFE?

Action Tanks have reduced the access hole by 62.5% preventing children accessing the internal area of the tank.

The director of Action Tanks, Randall Crisp specifically designed the underground system with child safety in mind. These are the following child safe elements:

  • Concealed underground, children are unable to climb or play on the tank
  • The centralised 150mm access hole for maintenance and de-sludging, has been reduced by 62.5% from the standard 400mm hole (see picture on right)

In February this year, after reviewing what tanks to use at his Swimming Schools in Brisbane, Laurie became aware of Action Tanks Industries, a company that manufactures a large range of under ground and above ground poly rainwater tanks.

Less than 2 months after this meeting, the 1st of 3 tragic events involving the death of infants in tanks occurred.

Laurie said “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH” and has decided he will be broadening his KIDS ALIVE campaign to raise awareness of the importance CHILD SAFE TANKS.

Tanks are simply pools with lids and as the ever increasing water restrictions take hold in urban areas, more and more kids are exposed to something that they have had no experience with and more alarming than this fact, is that their parents possibly have no awareness either. 

A tank is placed beside the house, and then the wheelie bin gets parked by the tank, then the ladder. So before you know it you have a ready-made climbing Gym with access to the top of the tank or the roof.

So Action Tanks “CHECK, CHECK, CHECK YOUR TANK” Slogan will be incorporated over time into the Kids Alive programme.It is Laurie’s firm belief that ACTION TANKS underground and above ground tanks are the SAFEST tanks you can use in your home.
